Little friends

Here is Ahti with some of the village children in Chi Phat, Koh Kong Province, Cambodia.  The kids are fascinated by the digital camera, and they like to pose so they can see themselves immediately in the viewfinder.

North Allegheny High, Pittsburgh, PA

So here it is...maybe someone from good old North Allegheny High School class of 1971 will recognize me! Did I mention I've always liked to color my hair?

Fun with Pictures

I found this one today in a pile I was sorting. I think it was taken about 10 to 12 years ago at Glamour Shots. Isn't it fun to see how people change? Now I'll see if I can find my high school yearbook picture. Incidentally, I think the dark brunette is fairly close to my natural hair color from when I was a kid (and I wasn't fooling around with hair dye).

Biggest Fish

This is the biggest fish I ever caught (somewhere in northern Ontario before I even became a mom).  All the fish at my feet, plus the Big Fish, made for some mighty great eating! Maybe now that I'm retired I'll have a chance to catch another big hauki.

Merry Christmas from "Lady Star Rider"

Tomorrow is my birthday, and half of my shopping is already done. I rode this bike to Texas and Florida in August of 2007. That trip, during one of the hottest months of the year in the south, was enough to convince me that I needed to retire so I could do more long distance rides in cooler weather. Not so cool as it is here today, though!

Two Up

This is our "two-up" bike. Stan has taken it on several long trips, but I'm still getting used to not being "in control". The bike is too heavy for me to ride alone without some preliminary exercises to build the muscles in my legs.

My son, the architect

This is our final good-bye before Ahti heads to Cambodia. I don't know when I will see him again. What a great-looking pair! I managed to get through this moment without any tears - that will be later, I'm sure.
